Mu was first founded in 1992 as Theater Mu, a theater company dedicated to bringing Asian American voices to the stage in the Twin Cities at a time when Asian American theater did not exist in the area and the Asian American community was rarely recognized. They have gone on to become a leader in the local and national development of Asian American theater and taiko, developing and supporting the work of local and national playwrights, actors, directors, and musicians by premiering many new works, fostering a new generation of Asian American artists, and bringing Asian American voices to Twin Cities audiences.
We're so glad that Lemon Twist will have it's first reading by this amazing company! Many thanks to artistic director Randy Reyes for selecting us. If you have friends in Minneapolis (well, who knows?), please, spread the word - the reading is free!
P.S. We especially love the symbolism of their name: Mu (pronounced MOO) is the Korean pronunciation of the Chinese character for the shaman/artist/warrior who connects the heavens and the earth through the tree of life.
